Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV)
A family from our community is embarking on a very exciting adventure soon. In just a few days, this family will be leaving for another country for the next year, using their God-given talents and skills to teach children in a mission school. (If I understand how it works.) Although we're sad to see them go, we know they are doing what they have been led to do and we also know that if any family can pull this off, it is this bunch.
Last night there was a going-away cookout in their honor and here is something I put together for them. (I am purposely making typos in their organization name and deleting their names for safety reasons, which may or may not be necessary.)
The day is drawing near
When you’ll no longer be here.
Pi0neer$ for Christ you’ll soon be
Spreading His light for all to see.
We’re so sad to see you go
But we want you to know
That we’re excited about your mission
And dedication to the Great Commission.
What a huge step for you to take.
There’s no limit to the impact you’ll
make
As you teach the children in ____ (this country that rhymes with 'you')
And follow the path God has set out
for you.
We’ll take care of things here in the ‘Ville
It will be like time is standing still.
We’ll make sure the Halder's mow your
lawn
And keep the place ship-shape while
you’re gone.
The fall traditions will come into
play,
And even though you’re far away,
Your house will be decorated by some
of this crew
Because it will seem like the right
thing to do.
Though many miles may separate us
Skype & E-mail will be a must
To keep us informed and up to date
On your adventures and experiences as
of late.
We know that God will bless you this
year
And when you come home, we’ll be right
here.
Good luck, (daughter, son, daughter, mom & dad - whose name rhymes with 'day')
We will be praying for you
every day. If you happen to know this family, please keep them in prayers as they go on this journey. Pray that God will give them peace and comfort when they need it most as well as safety and good health.
